Learning with depth
We teach for understanding rather than memorisation. With eighteen learners per class, teachers can question, listen and adapt, so that each student builds knowledge they can actually use.
Founded in 1974, Riverside Academy has grown from a small community school into one of Lusaka's most respected learning institutions.
Our philosophy
We believe every young person deserves an education that stretches the mind, steadies the character and opens doors. Our vision is a school where academic rigour and genuine care for each learner are inseparable — where children are known by name, challenged at their level, and supported until they succeed.
We teach for understanding rather than memorisation. With eighteen learners per class, teachers can question, listen and adapt, so that each student builds knowledge they can actually use.
Honesty, responsibility and respect are practised daily — in the classroom, on the sports field and in boarding life. We expect students to own their choices and to treat others well.
Academic results matter, but so do confidence, creativity and wellbeing. Sport, the arts, service and leadership opportunities help each learner discover strengths beyond the timetable.
Parents, teachers and students work as one team. Regular, honest communication means families always know how their child is progressing and how best to support them at home.
We set the bar high and then make sure no learner climbs alone — through individual feedback, targeted intervention and aftercare study support until 17:30.
From Grade 1 foundations to Grade 12 specialisation in Sciences, Commerce and Humanities, every stage is designed to prepare students for university, work and responsible citizenship.
We strive for academic rigour and personal growth in every learner.
We believe in the strength of our small class sizes and close-knit relationships.
We foster honesty and responsibility in our students, preparing them for the future.
